SuperTimer II - Timer States

(Note: due to the different requirements of the Pinewood Derby and the Soap Box Derby, both of which use SuperTimer II, the functions of the ‘Ready’ and ‘Power’ lights are not intuitive for the Soap Box Derby. ‘Ready’ can be thought of as a normal power light (always ON) and the ‘Power’ light functions as a status indicator as shown below.)

1. Standby – track closed (RED LIGHT), SuperTimer II disarmed.

On entry speaker says, ‘One moment please’.
Lane lights are alternating (if blink) or both on steady (no blink).
Power light is blinking about once per second in sync with Lane 2.
If Sensors go out of alignment, the speakers say, ‘Align sensors’.
Start switch press goes to Ready state.

2. Ready – track ready to race (GREEN LIGHT), SuperTimer II ready for crossings.

On entry speaker says, ‘Ready’.
Lane lights are OFF.
Power light is blinking about twice per second.
Start switch press returns to Standby state.

3. One crossing – a crossing (not necessarily a car) has occurred.

Lane lights remain OFF.
Beeper inside SuperTimer II is ON.
Power light remains blinking about twice per second.
Ready light changes to OFF.
Start switch press clears false crossing and goes to Ready state.
At switch press speaker says, ‘Crossing Cleared’, re-entering Ready, it does not say, ‘Ready’.

4. Race Over – Two crossings have occurred.

Lane Lights are blinking/steady on the winning lane.
Power light goes ON.
Speaker is announcing, ‘Winner, Lane x, Difference x.xxxx Seconds’.
Note, if difference is less than TieTime, ‘Difference’ is ‘Tie’.
Start switch press stops announce repeat and goes to Standby state.

In the ordinary course of events, the ‘Start’ button is pressed twice: Once to enter the Ready state and once to stop the announcement repeat and reenter the Standby State.
