RaceManager Introduction
The SuperTimer
II Soap Box Derby RaceManager option controls SuperTimer II through a serial
port interface. It provides virtually all the features of our previous
DOS product including all the race management functions required for a
single or double elimination race with or without Trial runs for up to
six Soap Box Derby divisions. And, it includes several new features.
A Setup screen
allows you to choose for
each division either single or double elimination brackets and trial runs
for up to 196 cars per division. Other choices include the initial A/B
phase spacing, the alarm time between A/B runs and the tie time. Check
boxes allow you select flashing or steady lane lights and whether you wish
the automatic announce function to work. A button allows testing the announcing
system.
An Entries screen ,
allows entering of the
racer information days or even weeks ahead of time. Information includes
address and sponsor.
A Schedule screen
allows you to select,
by division, manual, random or car number running order. Four buttons allow
you to ‘Make Run Sheets’, ‘View Run Sheets’, ‘Print Run Labels’ and print
‘Pre-Start Labels’. The run labels route each car from each run to the
next appropriate run. The pre-start labels route the car to its initial
run. They print on standard Avery 8167 (or equivalent ½” x 1¾”)
labels.
A Race screen
shows up to ten available runs
and allows racing the next run, racing a run out of order, re-racing a
previous run and deleting a run. Racing a run brings up an overlay screen
with large print detail of the participants and complete control of the
many possibilities [Clear False Crossing, Accept One Crossing, Disqualify
Lane (1/2), Swap Lanes, Cancel and finally Accept results].
Automatic announcement
of the run number,
division, heat number, phase and (if phase B) the advantage time and the
lane with the advantage along with the word ‘Ready’ occurs when the run
is selected. Run results are announced automatically and, if phase B or
a disqualification occurs, the heat results are also announced. When the
results are accepted, the word ‘Official’ is announced. All lane crossings
or changes to results (e.g. disqualify, lanes reversed) are logged to a
text file providing complete race documentation. The log file may be viewed
at any time.
A Report screen
provides nine separate
reports including four different ways to list the entries, three reports
about the runs and two winner reports including a winner by city listing
as well as a report that will generate address labels. All reports may
be seen on screen or printed or saved in one of four formats.
The RaceManager option includes
optimized single and double elimination brackets .
