Dear SuperTimer:
I feel compelled to contrast my recent Pinewood Derby experience with my experiences as a Cub Scout. Thanks to your products (track, timer and software) I could not be more pleased.
I am a recent appointee to the role of Packmaster and I was dreading the upcoming Pinewwod Derby for our young troop. The mere thought of the Derby dredged up memories I had long before repressed of feeling left out and disappointed as a young Wolf at my first--and last-- Pinewood Derby.
My goal for the Derby was to make every boy feel like they were competitve from start to finish and to find a system that would seamlessly allow for a Derby free from human error or controversy.
Your product is unbelievable. The best endorsement I can give is that not a single person, parent, scout or den leader had a complaint. To the contrary, everyone was in awe at how efficiently and simply the software integrated the track and timer and processed the results so quickly--and in a format everyone could understand. Every boy raced on every lane (eliminating any whining about slow and fast lanes) and the entire race took less than an hour-and-a-half.
We took your advice and hooked up the computer running the software to a projection television. The entire race was was projected on a white bedsheet approximately 4 feet by 6 feet. Just awesome. Before each heat the boys knew who was next and who was "on deck." And, after every heat, everyone in attendence would snap their necks from the finish line to the results projected immediately on the sheet and be abuzz at the results.
Aside from the performance of the product, the Cub Scouts all felt competitive. My committee chair and I both built cars for the race and we purposefully misaligned our wheels to slow the cars down. We finished last and second to last in the standings; thus; not a single boy went home brooding over a last place finish. In fact, the Cub Scout who finished third from last was beaming from the fact that he beat both his leaders in the last race...and handily.
I could rave about this product all day--and I already have to anyone who will listen. Please feel free to give my name and telephone number as a reference. I could not be more satisfied with your product.
With the thanks of Troop (Troop number, name and phone number withheld by SuperTimer policy)
