Installing the SuperTimer Lane Interface

Card in your Computer

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ONLY APPLY TO SYSTEMS PRIOR TO REV 4.00 THEY APPEAR HERE FOR HISTORICAL REASONS ONLY. SYSTEMS AT AND AFTER 4.00 USE A CARD THAT IS INSTALLED AT THE FINISH LINE AND CONNECTS TO A SERIAL PORT ON THE COMPUTER.

These are generic instructions; you may need to refer to your operating manual if your computer is different.

Your computer must be an IBM PC compatible and have a spare ISA card slot.

Before installing the SuperTimer Lane Interface Card, turn the computer on and run the LaneChek program from Drive A: or B:. The screen must show no lanes closed and no blinking display. If not, hit a key and change the current address to one with the value 0. If you are successful, the start sensor and lanes will show open.

If you can't see the screen, press x to return to DOS, then enter lanechek m. This will force monochrome operation of all SuperTimer programs. Monochrome is necessary with some plasma displays. You can re-establish color operations by entering the RaceManager program and setting the colors in the Utilities screen.

Turn the power off and remove the cover. On most PCs this is done by removing the screws from the back of the computer and removing the case. Check your manual for specific instructions.

Remove the slot cover on any unused ISA slot and insert the Lane Interface Card so that the connectors emerge from the opening in the back of the case. Use the screw from the slot cover to hold the Lane Interface Card in place. Place the Start cable plug on the upper SuperTimer board socket to be sure the card is centered in the slot before tightening the screw, otherwise the plug may not fully seat and come loose during the race.

Tape the slot cover to the top of the power supply to save it, replace the computer cover, turn on the power and read the section on installing the software.
